The Office TV

Many of you may recognize my comments from the "unOfficial Office Blog" from over at blogger. I have finally moved to my own domain now due to the popularity of the blog. I couldn't recover all my archives for some reason (maybe a techie could help me out), so I will be starting with fresh content. I also just got a forum installed here too. So check that out.

X-Mas episode.
DATE: Saturday Nov 26

The Christmas spirit is coming to the office on December 6th. The office is having a Christmas party and Michael starts a "Secret Santa" project. He ended up buying Ryan an iPod, which everyone wants...so they all try to trade in order to get that gift. Jim gets Pam a sentimental present but it might just end up going to Dwight. I havn't seen this episode yet, but I've heard it is funny. So watch it! We could use the ratings!

The QUOTE PROJECT
DATE: Saturday Nov 26

Hey all. I'd like to start a new quote project in which we gather the best of the best in quotes from the first 2 seasons. Of course "Shalom. I'd like to apply for a loan" is my personal fav. please send in yours and I will display them on the site.

The Client - Tim Meadows
DATE: Nov 24

Tim Meadows guest stars in this episode as a potential government client. It is Michael and Jan's job to nail down this contract. Jan and Michael agree that she should do the pitch. But of course Michael insists they all get drunk and eat Mexican food. During this debacle, Jan lets it out that she is divorced now and this peaks Michael's interest. When Michael calls Pam to read through his Joke Books...ahhaa...that is so Michael. Amazingly Michael wins the contract and to celebrate he and Jan end up sleeping together. She of course is incredibly embarassed the next day and wants nothing to do with Michael. He on the other hand is in love and brags to the entire office. "Honey this is our first fight". HAAHA. The other great part in this episode is when Jim finds Michael's script and the office reads it aloud.

One thing about the US version of the show I don't think is as good as the UK version is with the main character. Carell doesn't come close to how nervous Ricky Gervais is. Rick just has that shifty pig-face and those beedy little eyes. He is just uncomfortable to look at, and that is what really made that show great. Not too take anything away from Carell. He has his own interpretation and it is solid...just not as good in my honest opinion.

Dwight's Dojo
DATE: Nov 15

The mere fact that in "The Fight" we learn that Dwight has a personal Dojo is too much. I was in hysterics when I heard this. I couldn't believe it. In this episode, Dwight punches Michael in front of the staff. Michael of course won't let the embarassing moment go. So Jim sets up a rematch at Dwight's private Dojo. Jim gets a little too close to Pam and she gets upset. When Michael calls Ryan's cell phone and talks dirty...oh man! That was just too much. lol. Great episode.

Who would you do? "Fire"
DATE: Friday Nov 13

When a fire in the office forces everyone to evacuate, a game of "desert island" starts. Questions like "what book would you bring" and "who would you do" are asked. I seriously thought the Davinchi Code comment was absolutely side-splitting. I am not religious, so it was a lot funnier. This was a slow episode, but I would argue the best of the season. When Michael and Ryan talk business all day...oh god was that great. Very reminiscent of the UK version of the Office when David Brent keeps doing research online to show up the temp.

Dwight gets pissed that Ryan and Michael are becoming fast friends. At the end of the day we learn that Ryan was the person who left some toast in the toaster and started the fire. When Dwight and Michael begin to rip on him it is classic. Jim also has his first date with Pam...well sorta. There was a lot going on in this episode, so if you missed it, definitely track it down or buy it for 99cents of itunes.

Arrested Development
DATE: Nov 8

Okay. I am seriuosly bummed. I know this isn't an AD site, but pretty much anyone who likes The Office also likes AD. I can't believe Fox is cancelling the greatest comedy ever! Yes, I said it. The best comedy EVER! Seinfeld doesn't hold a candle to AD. They gave the show a horrible schedule this year. Oh and the fact that Fox didn't spend a dime advertising the show is also why it didn't do well this year. What do they expect? If they would give the show a good slot and just throw a little money to get the word out, they could bring in more viewers. There are more than 4 million American's that can relate to this show and its humor. I am absolutely distraught over this. End.

Retention rate baby!
DATE: Nov 2

Last episode pulled the highest retention percentage ever! More people stuck around after Earl to watch than ever before.

Lineup setup
DATE: Oct 21

I think it was a purely brilliant move by NBC to put The Office right behind My Name is Earl (which is freakin' hilarious in case you didn't know). Of course sitcoms back-to-back ensures you reach an audience with a funny-bone. I think this combo could really juice some viewers onto The Office. It is only up from here.

Sexual Harassment
DATE: Oct 18

Corporate has been getting complaints about some apparent sexual harassment around the office. So they tell Toby to head up a seminar on the issue for the Scranton team. Michael's buddy Todd Packer shows up and starts to be a complete ass. Of course he makes countless sexually harassing comments which makes sexual harassment day difficult. This episode has some great one liners in it.

The Dundies!
DATE: Oct 5

AHHAHA...YES! Another great episode. I want to win a "Dundy". This episode is great because we get a lot of Michael Scott airtime during the awards night. Oh and does anyone know why everything is held at Chilis? Is it a shameless plug? If so, how much do you think NBC is getting for it? I won't spoil this episode for you, so be sure to tune in.

Let me preface
DATE: Oct 3

Let me start off by saying that I dreaded this show! Yes, that is the US version of this show. A friend got me started on the U.K. version with Ricky Gervais and I was so amazed. That show was so breathtakingly funny. I of course, like many, was horrified to learn the show was cancelled. Then I heard NBC was going to give a US version a shot. I immediately thought: "uh, oh...here comes a nother 'coupling' disaster". So I gave the first episode a shot. And it was EXACTLY like the first episode of the UK version. The show seemed like a cheap knockoff with slightly less funny jokes and less deep characters. So I stopped watching for a week or two. Then I caught an episode and I was HOOKED. The writing seemed to change. The show kept the same plot and theme of course, the but US writers made the show their own. The show has a distinct flavor to it now, and I love that. Even the characters, Dwight, especially are growing on me. I am not sure how I compare this one to the original, but I just know I love it. So i'm gonna blog about it.
